Fortera Time
How to use Fortera Time
Everything you need to clock in, clock out, and get paid right. No admin steps here — just the basics.
Step 1 — Sign in
You have a Fortera email
Go to time.forterafencing.com and tap Sign in with Google. Use your @forterafencing.com account — no separate password to remember.
Sign in with Google →You don’t have a Fortera email
Go to time.forterafencing.com and tap Installers? Enter your PIN. Type your name and tap it. First time only, you’ll choose your own 4-digit PIN.
Enter your PIN →Step 2 — Clock in and out
Pick a category or find your job
Tap Yard / Shop, or search for a specific job by name or address — either clocks you in right away, no confirmation screen. Tap Other only when neither fits; it’ll ask you to type a quick description of what/where before it clocks you in, since “Other” alone doesn’t tell anyone anything. Drive time isn’t its own category anymore — it’s part of whichever job it’s next to (the drive there counts toward that job, the drive back counts toward the one you just left). Running behind on clocking in? Tap Actually started earlier? above the categories and enter the real time you started — same day only, no earlier than 4:00 AM.
Do the work
The screen shows what you’re clocked into and since when, so you can always double check.
Tap Clock out when you're done
That’s the whole process. Your hours are recorded the moment you tap it.
You’re done — nothing else to do
Your approver gets a text the moment you clock in or out, and most entries get approved within minutes. You don’t need to check anything. If your approver sends one back, you’ll get a text with the reason and a link to fix it — fix it and it goes right back to them for another look. Around 6:00 PM you’ll also get a link to review your whole day, as a backstop for anything still unresolved.
Still clocked in at the end of the day?
If you’re clocked out by 6:00 PM, nothing changes. You still get the one review text above. If you’re still clocked in at 6:00 PM, you get a different text instead, asking whether you’re done for the day, with a link to clock out. Tap Still working? on that text and it holds off for exactly one hour. Still clocked in after that? It checks back at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM. The 9:00 PM text is the last one for the night. Clock out any time and the reminders stop right there.
Reminders to clock in
When you clock out, you’ll be asked what time you expect to clock in tomorrow — or that you’re not working. If you skip it, you’ll get a text at 7:00 AM if you haven’t clocked in yet, then every 15 minutes until you do. Every reminder text has a Not working today?link — tap it and the texts stop for the rest of the day. Reminders stop on their own about an hour after they start either way.
If you also approve someone’s hours
Lead installers set as someone’s approver get one more kind of text. Once an hour, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, if anything’s waiting on your approval, you’ll get a count and a link to review and approve it. Nothing goes out the hours your queue is clear.
Sharing a phone or tablet?
If it’s someone else’s turn, tap Not you? Switch at the top of the screen. That sends the next person to pick their own name. Clock yourself out first if your shift is over — switching doesn’t do that for you.
Need help?
Forgot your PIN? Ask your admin to reset it. You don’t need your old one — once it’s reset, just pick your name again and choose a new PIN.
Hours look wrong? Tell your admin which day and what it should say. They can fix it directly.
“Manual time entry is paused”? After 3 back-dated clock-ins in a month, the “Actually started earlier?” option turns off for a bit — talk to your lead installer. You can still clock in as normal any time; if you genuinely started earlier, your admin can fix the time on your entry directly.
